Registration for our Winter/Spring 2018 Kent 6th grade and middle/high school steel band
classes are now OPEN. (Please read the information before scrolling to bottom of page for link to registration page)
for our winter/spring semester steel bands for 6th graders and 7th –
12th graders is
now open. To honor the families already committed to us and the two
schools that are facilitating this program, we have a priority system
in place for enrollment. Students will be enrolled based on the order
1) ALL players returning from the Fall semester classes, regardless of school affiliation, will have the highest priority (please enroll by January 8th)
2) Other students currently enrolled in Sunrise Elementary or Meridian Middle School (please enroll by January 10th)
3) Former Sunrise Elementary and Meridian Middle School students now attending schools (please enroll by January 12th)
4) All others (enroll by January 14th)
Registrants in categories 2, 3, and 4
can enroll any time, but will be placed on a stand-by list until their
category is elidgible to complete registration. For these registrants,
please do not remit a payment until you have been contacted with

not enroll your child unless you are confident that they will be able
to make a minimum of 75% of the rehearsals and as close to 100% of the
performances as possible!
Creating groups at the level we are attempting to achieve requires some
commitment. We feel that this generous absence policy will allow those
kids with other interests and projects to still be involved with them,
while maintaining stability and sustainability for the group as a whole.
The schedule is:
6th grade – Tuesday and Thursday, 4:45 - 5:45 p.m. (4:30 p.m. doors open, final pick-up/doors closed by 6:00 p.m.)
7th through 12th grades – Tuesday and Thursday, 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. (doors open at 3:15 p.m., pick-up time no later than 4:45 pm.)
Classes begin Tuesday, January 16th, and (tentatively) will conclude in the first week in June. Our bands
follow a full semester-long
session in winter and spring, with two regular season concerts (March 29th and another in June), plus others TBA. Sessions are
synchronized with the Kent School District calendar, with adjustments for early release days at our host
school (Meridian Middle School). We have a google calendar containing all the dates you need to know about. Just click on "Schedule" in the menu of the SMN – Kent Home Page. That calendar currently runs only through the March concert, but will soon be filled in into June and beyond.
The location for our classes remains at Meridian Middle School, 23480 - 120th Ave SE, Kent, in Portable #3.

is available for qualifying families with lesser ability to pay.

For parents of new youth participants, we provide a small packet of informational documents, releases, etc.
